Hello there! We’re Courtney and Evan, and after bouncing around the country for a few years, we’ve returned to the Midwest to put down our roots. We both grew up and went to college in Nebraska, where we met, fell in love, and got married. Since then, we’ve lived in Baltimore, DC, Palo Alto, and San Francisco—and, while we enjoyed the excitement of city life and coastal cultures, the priorities and pace of life in the Midwest (not to mention the cost of living!) were always luring us home. So, we recently decided to trade in our tiny downtown San Francisco studio for a new life in Nebraska.

Which brings us to this blog! We didn’t plan for it, but one day an old fixer-upper fox-hunting lodge on a couple of acres popped on the market, and we couldn’t resist. It needs some A LOT of work, but we plan on turning it into our forever home, one project at a time. We started this blog to chronicle our progress and adventures along the way.

And, as excited as we are, there’s another member of our family who might be the most excited of all! Reyna is our rescue dog we adopted in California and brought with us on our journey home. While we enjoy no longer having a multipurpose bedroom / living room / kitchen, Reyna’s even happier to have traded the streets of San Francisco for her very own forest.
