Year in Review: 2016

December 30, 2016

We moved in to our home in the middle of May — it seems both like yesterday and forever ago. Along with the move brought new jobs and a new dog in addition to diving right into home renovation projects. We’ll admit, there are times when we feel like we haven’t made much progress. Then when we start listing off everything we’ve accomplished, well, it feels super motivating!

We took out some brick walls.

Evan designed and built custom stairs, along with a built-in cabinet!

We replaced the entry door from the mud room to the garage.

We added a storm door to the front of the house.

Evan sandblasted a wall to discover we actually liked it painted.

Evan (along with our brother-in-law) installed a new garage door.

I learned that, apparently, I don’t have a green thumb.

We updated the front landscaping.

We removed some overwhelmingly large bushes near the back patio.

We installed hardwood floors in the living room and kitchen.

We added recessed lighting and installed a ceiling in the living room.

We cut down more trees than we can count (Evan just likes any excuse to bust out his chainsaw!).

We installed new light fixtures, both indoors and out.

We still have so much to do, but it’s really fun to see what we’ve completed. Our main projects for 2017 include completely remodeling the main living room (it’s currently being used as storage space for our renovation materials), renovating the mud/laundry room, and busting through another brick wall so we can gain access back to one of the bedrooms. Of course, there are a million other things on our to-do list but those are the really big projects!

We hope 2016 has treated you well, and we send all our good vibes for a great 2017!
