I feel like maybe we owe you more details on the whole exposed brick situation. Let me be clear…we really wanted to have one wall of exposed brick in the living room. You see, we do have other exposed brick in the house, and it’s one of our favorite features.
This wall is in the kitchen, and we love it so much!
Yes, those cabinets are still blue. Kitchen renovation is tentatively planned for summer 2017! Not to wish time away…but um, I cannot wait. But back to the brick! It’s beautiful, right?
We also have it in the main bathroom upstairs…
It’s just so cool! The brick really contributes to the lodge vibe we so love.
That said, the brick on the sandblasted wall is nothing similar to the walls in the kitchen and bathroom. If we would have uncovered brick that matched the above photos, we would have kept it. Instead we found crumbly brick with horribly uneven texture.
So…yeah. Definitely not the same. Again, we’re so happy we tried to expose it because now we’ll never wonder about it. Just like I said in the sandblasting post, we’re also happy that we didn’t spend $1500 to hire out this project only to discover it’s not what we wanted.
As we’ve mentioned before, flexibility is key when working on home renovations! (Well, flexibility and all the wine.)
