All Moved In and Ready to Go

June 23, 2016

Now that we’ve shared pictures of the exterior and interior of the lodge, we are excited to share a general overview of our ideas and plans for the renovation. As you can imagine, we have a lot of things to do!

Side note: we’re all moved in! We actually bought the house last summer but officially moved in about a month ago. It feels so good to be home. 🙂

Once our offer on the lodge was accepted, we sat down and created a spreadsheet of every.single.project we wanted to complete. The final list clocked in at over 100 projects. Overwhelmed much? We remember just sitting on the couch and giggling over everything that needs to be worked on and/or updated. What else could we do? Laugh. (And drink wine. A lot of it.)

We plan to share as much as we can on this blog and apologize for the lack of posts as of late. Originally our plan was to share completed projects but we’ve decided to start sharing the nitty gritty of the process as well. Why wait until the house is perfect? We want to keep it real! One condition: please don’t judge us.

Of course we hope this inspires others, but selfishly, we are gonna need pictures and documentation to prove to ourselves that we are actually making progress even when it feels like we’re getting nowhere fast. The entire house is ultimately one big lifetime project, so we plan to tackle it one room at a time.

Each room will have its own post where we dive into the unique details of that project as we go along. Also, the list below includes an overview of general house-wide projects and plans:

  • White trim/baseboards
  • Windows
  • Light fixtures (+ change to all LED lights)
  • Exterior and interior doors
  • Install + replace storm doors
  • White light switches/electrical outlets + plates
  • Hardwood floors, tile, and carpet
  • Strip paint on exposed brick walls

Here’s a preview of what’s to come…

Yeah, that was really one of our doors for 10 months. Bye, duct tape!
